ABOUT DAVE BATTEN
In 1992, Dave Batten witnessed the power of a Shine Dream coming true on a family trip to Disney when he saw a young person with a disability. The excitement on that child’s face inspired him to co-found Mio Manz Charities with his best friend and former NHL goalie Eddie Mio. Together, they supported Shine’s mission for many years.
Dave became a cherished donor and passionate philanthropist who raised over $1 MILLION for Shine.
A single moment in his life became a movement that lasted over three decades! He took pride in helping others and stayed tirelessly committed to making Dreams come true.
Now, Dave's legacy will live on through a powerful program in his memory that turns former Dreamers into Shine Ambassadors and Mentors.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Dave Batten Alumni program gives Shine Alumni a chance to gain new tools by telling their own stories and experiences while advocating for themselves. Media training, speaking engagements, and using their voice for video campaigns will transfer directly into skills that benefit their personal and professional life. Like Dave, Alumni will give back in ways that help shape the future of Shine.

Become an awesome teaching buddy - helping them through the Dream process, sharing experiences, and answering any questions they might have during such an exciting time!

Ambassador
Be a loud and proud Dream Alumni turned advocate.
Work to make a positive change in the world, shaping how others see young people living with severe physical disabilities.
Represent Shine through Dream delivery, media opportunities, speaking engagements, and more!
Help people understand the impact of a Shine Dream, and explain how your life has changed through your experience with Shine.
Beyond the Program:
As your leadership grows, Ambassadors and Mentors may serve as a Committee Member and eventually a Board Member, helping guide the future of Shine Foundation.
